Formed in 2005, Bombay Bicycle Club is an English indie rock band that is beginning to make waves internationally. You might be familiar with their most recent album, A Different Kind of Fix, released August 2011. Hits from this album include “Shuffle” (embedded), “Lights Out, Words Gone,” and “Your Eyes.”
Bombay Bicycle Club, named after a chain of Indian restaurants in Britain, was formed by Jack Steadman, Jamie MacColl, and Suren de Saram in 2005 to perform at a school assembly; bassist Ed Nash was added the next year. None of the members, however, fully committed to music until June 2008, when they had all finished higher secondary education.
In 2009, Bombay Bicycle Club released their first album, I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose, which was followed by Flaws in 2010 and A Different Kind of Fix in 2011. They are presently recording their fourth album, which is due out later this year.
When they’re not recording new material, Bombay Bicycle Club is playing shows throughout Europe. But with their growing popularity, it may be only a matter of time before they make their way to the States.
