The score was 51-49. With one second remaining, India Terrell went for one final shot. But it was blocked, and the Lady Falcons’ amazing season came to an end.
The Lady Falcons’ loss to Section III champions Cicero-North Syracuse in the state championship quarterfinals last Saturday was only their second of the season. The prior loss was suffered in January when the Falcons faced South Shore from New York City’s Public School Athletic league—the number two team in the state. And that likewise was a game in which the Falcons nearly pulled the upset.
Needless to say, the Lady Falcons did not go down without a fight. Time and again they proved their merit on the court, and with impressive young talent as well as first year varsity coach Decky Lawson still on board, the years to come promise to be impressive.
The tremendous support that the Lady Falcons received from students and staff alike helped immensely. Many traveled to Syracuse just to cheer on their fellow schoolmates, a show of unity only possible through Falcon Pride.
Congratulations, Lady Falcons, on an exceptional season this year! We wish the Lady Falcon seniors the best of luck in the future. It’s been an amazing ride!
