Check out what’s going on in Citizenship, Discovery, Innovation, and Leadership during the month of March:
Citizenship Academy:
- Citizenship hosted a Law Day on March 6th, featuring guest visits from attorneys to several classes. The Law Day was topped off by a Revolutionary Lunch depicting “Goldilocks on Trial.”
- A volunteer session at Capital City Rescue Mission is set for Saturday, March 23rd, from 10:45am-1:45pm. Students interested should visit the Citizenship Academy Office.
Discovery Academy:
- Discovery is embracing “Music in Our Schools Month.” Events kicked off on March 6th at Myers Middle School with the All-City Chorus Concert, and the All-City Band Concert, also at Myers, followed on March 13th. Still to come is the All-City Strings Concert on March 20th at Hackett Middle School. All concerts are set for 6:30pm. Finally, several Discovery students will have their musical skills evaluated at the annual New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) festival on March 23 at Hackett.
Innovation Academy:
- Our FIRST Robotics Team 1493 participated in a competition in Worcester, Massachusetts, during the weekend of March 8th. The competition served as the culmination of the club’s build season, during which the robot is designed and constructed. Team 1493 ultimately placed 15th out of 50. Congratulations to all involved!
Leadership Academy:
- Leadership is working with the Peace and Social Actions Club to make Albany High more environmentally friendly. The initiative encourages proper use of recycling bins, which are clearly labeled. AHS is paid for recycled content, and the effort goes a long way in making the planet cleaner.
