You may have heard of them through the hit music video game series Rock Band, but that’s only the tip of their popularity. The Main Drag is an indie rock band out of Boston ready to take the world by storm with its musical diversity.
The Main Drag originated as a collaboration between Adam Arrigo and Matt Levitt, though both have since left the band to pursue other projects. Its current members include Matt Boch, Dan Cardinal, Jon Carter, and John Drake. They’ve released three albums: Simmer in Your Hotseat in 2004, Yours as Fast as Mine in 2007, and You Are Underwater in 2009. The latter two albums were released under the band’s own label, Reasonable People’s League (RPL Audio).
Most would consider “A Jagged Gorgeous Winter” (embedded) their biggest song; it was featured as a playable song in Rock Band 2 and was even used in the game’s commercial. Some of their more recent hits include “Love During Wartime,” which was featured as the outro to hit webshow The Guild’s second season, and “Talk Them Down” and “Don’t Let Me Down (Slowly),” both of which are available on the Rock Band Network.
So what’s next for The Main Drag? They’re presently recording their fourth studio album, which will surely prove to be another hit. With several studio albums and a record label to their name, The Main Drag demonstrates how a band can go from humble beginnings to true success.
