Check out what’s going on in Citizenship, Discovery, Innovation, and Leadership during the month of April:
Citizenship Academy:
- The latest Revolutionary Lunch took place on Thursday, April 11th. Participants discussed the various ways that popular social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube can affect your future.
Discovery Academy:
- The Theatre Ensemble’s production of West Side Story is looming! The show opens Thursday, April 18th, at 7pm, with encore performances Friday and Saturday evening and a Sunday matinee at 2pm. Discovery students can also look forward to daytime performances that week.
- Three Albany High students’ artworks are on display at the Albany Center Gallery through April 27. The two photos by sophomore Emily Lasch and senior Christopher Schuetze and sculpture by sophomore Derrick Wright have also been accepted for review in the 14th Annual High School Regional Juried Art Exhibition. A public reception was held at the gallery on April 5th.
Innovation Academy:
- Several Innovation teachers recently participated in a Google Apps for Education pilot team. The features taught will be incorporated into the teachers’ curricula during the fourth quarter.
- The RPI Engineering Ambassadors will be visiting toward the end of the month. They will be conducting hands-on sessions on topics such as wind energy, robotics, and lightweight concrete, which is a sustainable option for construction.
Leadership Academy:
- Girls, looking for a prom dress? The Cinderella Project and Leadership Academy can help! Anyone interested in getting a free prom dress should contact Leadership Academy Home Coordinator Mrs. Chapman for more information.
- Leadership is promoting Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Students can purchase ribbons from Ms. Hatfield or Lauren Prosper for a dollar to raise funds for the Equinox Youth Shelter.
