It’s a chilly fall evening on Saturday, November 15, 2013, in Worcester Massachusetts. By the looks of the hundreds of shivering fans lined up outside the DCU Center, this Paramore show is an event no one wants to miss.
The show begins at 7:30 P.M. and opening bands Hellogoodbye and Metric warm up the crowd and got everyone moving. After nine, the stadium lights shut off and a wave of screams rushes throughout the audience.
Paramore is about to go on. A synthesizer begins to play the intro of “Grow Up”, and as the anticipation of the audience hits the brink, the curtain drops and the band emerges to play their third track from the newest album titled Paramore.
The flashing light show is extravagant, and it can be hypothesized that the electricity needed to power the lights is generated from the band. Guitarist Taylor York runs around the stage like a wild animal. Another band member named Jeremy Taylor joins in the running and also partakes in the wild antic of doing a flip over Taylor while playing the bass line of “Pressure” at the same time.
The most energy comes from a red-haired ball of fire, also known as vocalist Hayley Williams. Hayley doesn’t stop moving for the duration of the entire show. She headbangs, jumps around, belts out the lyrics, and gets the crowd to partake in these activities as well. She exemplifies the characteristics of a true show-woman.
Paramore mostly plays lively pop-rock songs, but takes a break to play some piano ballads, and also three mellow ukulele songs that act as checkpoints in the concert.
Highlights of the show include, “That’s What You Get”, one of the old fan-favorites; “The Only Exception”, an acoustic ballad during which every lighter and cell phone was lit up and the last song of the night called, “Still Into You”, during which the crowd is dancing and singing along joyfully. At the end of “Still Into You”, green and yellow balloons float down from the ceiling onto the mosh pit, and confetti cannons explode into the stadium.
It’s a finale that the attendees of the concert surely won’t forget anytime soon, and they’ll certainly never forget seeing Paramore give a 10/10 star performance live in concert.
Paramore will tour with Fall Out Boy this summer, making a stop at SPAC in Saratoga on the 24th of June. You can purchase tickets at www.ticketmaster.com.
