Domhnall Gleeson stars in Richard Curtis’ drama, “About Time” which premiered in theaters last Friday.
The movie tells the story of 21 year old Tim Lake and his family who live a simple life in Cornwall, England. On his 21st birthday his father (Bill Nighy), feels it’s time for him to learn their family secret. He learns that the men in his family have the ability to travel in time, and he warns him of the mishaps that he must avoid in order prevent the past from reshaping.
Since Tim’s main priority is the hope to fall in love, he tends to use this to his advantage by re-doing his interactions with the women he meets. His awkward personality catches the eye of Mary (Rachel McAdams), a quirky American girl. The movie is lengthy, but since the character’s lives are so intriguing, I barely blinked. The music score includes the works of Ellie Goulding and Ben Folds, along with beautifully arranged instrumentals.
About Time is perfect for Nicholas Spark fans, but the story leaves a lasting impression. The moral of the story is to take life for what it is and to live every day like it’s your last. This movie is definitely worth the price.
