The Wolf Road Holiday Inn was crammed from wall to wall with fans and followers of comic books, anime, and anything sci-fi on November 10.
The Albany Comic Con, making its 6th iteration, offered the likes of many famous names in the comic industry as well as many vendors and raffle chances. Participants of the convention often partake in dressing up like their favorite character from a comic or other from of media (also known as cosplaying).
The star-studded lists of guests attending the gathering were members of well-known comic series. For example Bill Anderson, Tedd Dezago, and Howard Mackie were all apart of the Spider-Man franchise. Other popular comic writers set up booths to sign autographs, share fan fiction, and give insight into the comic book industry.
As a common occurrence at such events, a costume contest and panels took place in the largest and main area of the convention. Vendors often stationed themselves near the panel of guests to increase traffic. Along with the vast amount of memorabilia and collectibles, a silent auction of comic book concept art was held to donate to the Ronald McDonald House.
The experience lived up to the expectations of many. Fans from across the Capital Region were able to spend time doing what they love. The schedule for the next event may vary but they hold two conventions every year, one in the spring and one in the fall.
