Girls Varsity Soccer Win Over Troy

The Girls Varsity Soccer Team did a great job with a 2-1 win over Troy at 4:15 on September 27th. This was their first win of the season, and with every goal the stands increased in energy. They had some great passes, and goalie Courtney Fish had some great saves.

Halfway through the first quarter the Falcons were down 1-0.  After an incredible game-tying goal, the Falcons were running on a high, spirits bright. They held this tie through the remainder of the 1st half, and most of the second. Senior goalie and captain Courtney Fish was essential to this energy as she prevented many of Troy’s shots on goal.

With 15 minutes left in the second quarter, #25, Junior Danica Fish scored the winning goal.  The crowd was anxious as they waited for the final whistle.  The stands were electric, everyone proud of the girls and their win. It was a big moment for the team, proving that hard work pays off.

When asked how the team is feeling this season Coach Binfield said, “The team has worked really well together this year and have really good friendships which have helped on the field. ”  In response to why he became a girls soccer coach he said, “I have always coached.  There was never a problem with the boys team and their numbers, but there was with the girls teams.  I have two sisters, so I wanted to give the girls the same opportunities the boys had.”

The girls played very strongly, and definitely deserved the win. Congrats on their game, and good luck on the rest of their season!
