2023 Homecoming at the High was truly one to remember! With a classic spirit week, exciting pep rally, a thrilling football game and eventful dance – this week was such a welcoming start to the school year.
To kick off spirit week, Tuesday the 26th was pajama day. Wednesday the 27th was favorite teacher day, where you dress up as your favorite teacher. Thursday the 28th was culture day where students can represent their heritage and culture. Some brought flags and others wore cultural attire. It’s clear that this is a fan favorite Spirit day. To close it off, Friday the 29th was Falcon Friday, where students wore falcon gear and academy colors.
On Friday, the Jazzmanian Devils played as students entered the main gym for our fall pep rally and once everyone was seated we had entries from all of our fall sport teams. Next was a fantastic performance by our cheer team and many very entertaining games and music from our DJ Mr. Albano. We even had a relay race where even our principal Ms. Commerford and the Falcon mascot competed! And to close out the event, a dance-off was held with the one and only Jordan Johnson of the senior class.
The homecoming game was played on Saturday the 30th. The varsity boys football team won their game against Mohonasen 45-30 after coming from behind to capture the lead. Quarterback Elijah Temple led the Falcons with 5 total touchdowns, playing amazingly on both sides of the ball. Senior Nigere Stratton also scored twice, and the Falcons were anchored by strong play from Ben Hartman, Gordon Goldmann, and Brandon Hymes on the offensive line.
The homecoming dance took place Saturday night at 7pm and the theme was ‘Dance The Night Away’. Many students attended the dance and had a great time. The gym was open for dancing and the senior lounge was open to all students to relax, hang out, and buy food from the very successful bake sale! Jordan Johnson and Elijah Temple were crowned homecoming King and Queen, congrats to them! The successful night finished with a slow dance, a conga line and a fun and unified cha-cha slide.
