This year- in impressive comeback fashion- the Falcons football team won 45-30 over Mohonasen to secure a Homecoming victory. What was most impressive, were the seniors on the squad.
Senior quarterback Elijah Temple truly went for it that night, accounting for 5 total touchdowns. That night was a big night for all the seniors, as Nigere Stratton scored twice. Jonathan Besong recorded a touchdown and an interception. Samir Jeter was the defensive leader with three sacks. The Falcons chewed up 528 yards of total offense, made possible by an offensive line that was commanded by seniors Gordan Goldmann, Ben Hartman, and Brandon Hymes.
However, it was truly Temple’s day in the spotlight, as he returned an interception for a momentum-turning touchdown in a key stretch of the third quarter as the Falcons turned a halftime deficit into an easy win. Trailing by 10 in the second quarter, Temple scored his second touchdown of the day to cut the halftime deficit to 24-20. Following yet another defensive stop, Temple ran for quite a ways to help set up Stratton’s 9-yard pass, who then plowed through a defender at the pylon to get into the end zone. The Albany High defense only allowed six points the rest of the way despite falling behind 24-14 in the second quarter. It was already obvious that the streak-breaking Homecoming victory was secure when the visitors scored that late goal.
