I applied to be an ARC reader for War Hour by Lauren Loscig, to my surprise-as it was completely on a whim- I was chosen. I had not heard of the book- but it’s fantastic. This is Loscig’s first published book, but it certainly didn’t feel like it. It was jam packed with action, and romance. I can not wait to see where this series goes as it left off on a cliffhanger.
Loscig created a world chalk full of adventure, friendship and love. She created maps, courts, and people, and just an entire complex universe that made my jaw drop. I laughed, cried, and felt such empathy for the characters and their situation. You could not see the plot twists coming, they were unpredictable, unlike many other books. In that way the book really kept me on my toes.
The names are so unique and the courts are so interesting. Beyond that, the whole idea of trialing is so interesting, specifically the trials themselves. It feels like a fantasy version of Divergent. It married Divergent and The Red Queen. It took trials, courts, powers, and created such a complex story. Above all, I loved this book, and felt truly honored to be an ARC reader. I would give the book a solid 4/5 stars and think that people would like it.
